On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, Peter Hynd peacefully passed away. Peter was the second of four sons born to William and Lilias Hynd in Stamford, Ct. After high school he attended culinary school in New York. Peter started his cooking career at Wee Burn Country Club. Later in his career, while working at Burning Tree Country Club he met his future wife, Karen Kronberg. They married in June 1972. In 1974 Peter and Karen moved to York where they started their family. Peter worked as a chef at the Ramada Inn and York Valley Inn. Later he became an executive chef for Olewine’s Foods, which was acquired by Sysco Foods. As an executive chef Peter became well known in the community by helping restaurants with food preparation and menu selection. As well as being an active member of the American Culinary Federation, Peter was also a founding member of the Susquehanna Valley Chef’s Association and assisted in many events supported by that organization. Peter was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing many of the courses in the area. Peter is survived by his sons, Trevor and his wife Kristin, Jared; and brother, Jack and his wife Martha. While everyone who knew Peter is saddened by his passing, they know that heaven now has a great chef. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York.
