Miriam Emma Rose Swartz, 103, of York died December 28, 2020 at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late Ernest G. Swartz. Born November 27, 1917 in McGregor, Manitoba, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Otto Paul Gustav and Elsa (Hill) Meisterfeld. Miriam was a former employee of the Bernstein Sewing Factory and was a seamstress for the wife of Governor Leader. She was also a Banquet Waitress at the Yorktowne Hotel and Avalong Dairy. Miriam was a longtime member of Pleasureville United Methodist Church. She loved gardening and her dogs. She is survived by her 2 sons, Kenneth E. and his wife, Judy Swartz of York and Alan B. and his wife, Lori of Thomasville; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and her sister, Gertrude Barnhill of York. In addition to her late husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Ernest O. Swartz; brother, Fred Meisterfeld; and 2 sisters, Dorthia Moul and Clara Palmer. A private funeral service will be held Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market Street, York with her grandson-in-law, Dr. Creston Tate of The North York Gospel Chapel, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
