Merrill L. Black, 87, of Red Lion died December 11, 2020 at York Hospital. Born August 4, 1933 in Chester County, PA, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Naomi (Kaltreider) Black. Merrill worked mostly in the construction and trucking industries. He was a 1951 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. He enjoyed reading and doing word and jigsaw puzzles. Merrill is survived by his 4 children, Trena Ruhs of York, Geoffrey and his wife, Ruth Black of Hanover, Gerald and his wife, Pamela Black of York, and Lisa and her husband, Todd Smeltzer of York; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandsons; 2 sisters, Ruth Warner of York and Dorothy and her husband, Carl Miller of York; and a brother, Richard and his wife, Janet Black of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by his sister, Orpha Diller. Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Stony Brook Mennonite Cemetery, 3463 Stoneridge Road, York with Pastor Vince Wood officiating.
