Judith Arlene Bosley Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Judith Arlene Bosley (Hash), daughter of the late Charles W. Hash, Sr. and Mary J. (Miller) Hash, passed away on Monday, January 4th, 2021, at St. David’s Hospital in South Austin, TX, at the age of 78. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms.” (Peter 4:10) Born December 22, 1942, Judy grew up on a 103-acre farm in East Berlin, PA, where she developed a lifelong love of nature and all God's creatures, great and small. After graduating from Spring Grove High School in 1960, she went on to receive a B.S. in Education from Elizabethtown College. With her kind-hearted, caring nature, it came as no surprise that she went on to receive her M.S. in Early Childhood Education, with a focus on Special Education, from Newark State University. After beginning her teaching career as a 2nd grade teacher in New Jersey, Judy moved back to York, PA, where she enjoyed a long, celebrated career teaching elementary and special needs children for Southern York, LIU, and other districts, until her retirement in 2006. Throughout her life, Judy remained steadfastly dedicated to what mattered most to her heart: devotion to God, family, and service to others. Her authentic kindness, unflagging positivity, and sweet humor instantly put people at ease, turning strangers into friends and friends into family. Beyond her humanitarian efforts, Judy took all animals into her heart and, whenever possible, her home. To know her meant knowing her "little fox" Pomeranian, Dusty, who was her trusted companion and fierce protector for over 15 years. As a lifelong member of Madison Avenue Church of the Brethren, Judy found great strength and fellowship through bible study, and that fortitude carried her through many of life's hardships. “Love only grows by sharing. You can only have more for yourself by giving it away to others.” - Brian Tracy Judy’s beautiful spirit glowed with abundant love. She was a source of comfort and strength to all who knew her, and a source of laughter and light for all she met. She strove to instill compassion, curiosity, generosity, optimism, and faith in her beloved children and grandchildren, and those altruistic values will continue to guide and inspire them. She will be missed beyond measure. Judy is survived by her daughter, Tricia Sherrer of Austin, TX; son, David William Sherrer, II of Cocoa Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Zane and Zoe Sherrer; and her brother, Dr. Charles W. Hash, Jr. of York. She was the loving and dedicated sister to the late Donna L. Hash, who preceded her in death in 2018. A private service will be held by the family on Monday, January 18, followed by burial at Greenmount Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and concern for others' health and safety, please contact the family with questions regarding the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in Judy’s name to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Humane Society.
