John W. Sweeney

September 10, 1962 - August 5, 2021

John W. Sweeney, 58, of York Haven, died on August 5, 2021 at his home. Born in York on September 10, 1962, he was the son of the late James E. Sweeney, Sr. and the late Cynthia Lou (Reider) Sweeney. He was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He worked for Checkers Inc. as a cleaner. John loved to hunt and fish, as well as watch his favorite sports teams, the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Orioles. He also enjoyed attending YES concerts. John is survived by a brother, Aaron E. Sweeney and his wife, Sandra K. of Manchester; two nephews, Aaron, Jr. and his girlfriend, Sarah Roberts and Dennis A. and his wife, Jamie; and four great nieces and nephews Elliott, Hayden, Maddie and Garrett. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Road, York. Those wishing to attend, please meet at the cemetery entrance by 10:45 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local VFW of American Legion Post.
