Jean Long

Jean Long, 102, of York died January 23, 2022 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Kenneth P. Long. Born January 14, 1920 in Hollidaysburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Mary (Irwin) Harry. Jean was a secretary for Food Machinery Corp. in Reading after 25 years of employment. Jean was a 1938 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Jean had been active in the East York Gallopers (formerly the Galleria Gallopers. She was also involved with the Dutchessess of York and the Red Lion Senior Center. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Attorney Dennis Harry Long; granddaughter, Sarah Long; and 2 grandsons, Timothy and David Long. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 31, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market Street, York. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of York County, 3159 North Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
