Jean Robertson Bell Abreght

Jean Robertson Bell Abreght, 81 of York, PA, died at Hershey Rehabilitation Hospital in Hershey, PA on May 11, 2022. She was the wife of Donald Abreght of York, PA. Born September 21, 1940 in Ridgway PA, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Dorothy (Robertson) Bell Jean was a 1958 graduate of Ridgway High School and a 1959 graduate of Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. Jean retired in 1985 as Executive Secretary to the President of P.H. Glatfelter Company and retired in 1996 as Executive Secretary to the President of Voith Hydro. Following her retirement, Jean served as owner and operator of Dove Enterprises and The Document House, LLC in York. She was also a former employee of Speer Carbon Company of St. Marys, PA and IBM in Mechanicsburg, PA. She was a member of Pathway Community Church where she served on the Elder Board, Women’s Ministries Leader, Church Care Group Leader, Counselor and Small Group Leader. She was Chairman of the Board of Human Life Services, Past President of White Rose Chapter, IAAP and a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries. Jean spread the Gospel everywhere she went since 1996. In addition to her husband, Jean is also survived by a daughter, Christine A. Brown of York, a step-son, Troy E. Abreght of Mt. Wolf, PA, three grandchildren, Tadd Sprenkle, Devon Gehrhart and her husband David and Trey Brown; six great grandchildren; a brother, John R. Bell and his wife Elaine of Warren, PA and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St. York, PA with the Rev. James Dinger, officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Community Church Children’s Ministry, 1731 W Philadelphia Street, York, PA 17404 or to “Penn State Cancer Institute”, c/o Office of University Development, P.O.
