Harry Scott "Buddy" Overlander

March 8, 1961 - January 12, 2022

On January 12, 2022, God wrapped his loving arms around “Buddy” Harry Scott Overlander as he passed away surrounded by his family at UPMC Memorial Hospital. He was the devoted and loving husband of Kelly Sue (Rudy) Overlander. Buddy was born March 9, 1961, the son of Helen (Adams) Overlander and the late Harry S. Overlander. Buddy shared a birthday with his father and a special bond with his mother. He graduated from William Penn Senior High School class of 1979 (GO Bearcats!). Buddy’s hard work ethic and need to provide for his family fueled his very successful career. He started learning his printing trade at Greater Buffalo Press, and then pursued owning his own business. Buddy owned Wise Printing Company for over 25 years, where he loved his coworkers and customers dearly. Buddy’s life revolved around the devotion for his family. Kelly and Buddy were married for 41 years and together they formed the foundation and strength of his family. In 1991 they built their dream home in West York where the family has created many memories, from holidays, to pool parties, Buddy loved hosting others. Later in life they bought a vacation home in Florida where he enjoyed the beach, walks, bike rides, and golfing, with his friends and family. Buddy was best known for his kind heart, terrible jokes, his mischievous smile, and his willingness to help others. He also, loved golf, basketball, baseball, western movies, the Ram’s, and socializing with his friends. His children and his grandchildren were his most important treasures. In the words of Buddy, “You Gotta Play to Win”, “Give 110% at all times”, and Family always comes first. In addition to his wife Kelly, Harry “Bud” is survived by his son, Jeremy Ross Overlander and wife Tracy (Nordmark) Overlander; a daughter, Brandy Jo (Overlander) Shope and husband Wayne Shope; six grandsons, Noah Overlander, Luke Overlander, Austin Cornell, Gavin Cornell, Jalen Shope, and Quinn Shope. He is also survived by his sister, Candy (Overlander) Cunningham, along with several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Messiah United Methodist Church located at 1300 North Beaver St., York, PA 17404. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in Shiloh Union Cemetery. The church asks that everyone please wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a contribution to the West York Boys Club or the West York Foundation. The family would like to thank all UPMC Memorial Staff for their care and compassion. Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, PA 17403.
