H. Glenn Witmer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

H. Glenn Witmer, 96, of Emmaus passed into Glory on Sunday, December 20, 2020. Glenn was born on July 3, 1924, in York, PA to the late John I. and Clara Witmer. Devoted to God, family, and country, he entered the United States Army Air Corps in January 1943 and survived 35 WW2 B-17 combat missions in the European Theater, earning a Distinguished Flying Cross, an Air Medal with three oak clusters, a Good Conduct medal, as well as five campaign ribbons. After his military discharge in 1945, he worked as a HVAC technician and later sold cookware. In 1967 he became a ServiceMaster franchisee, building a cleaning and restoration business in Allentown, PA that today is operated by his granddaughter, Alexandria Schueck and her husband Nevin. Glenn is survived by his wife of 73 years, Marion Witmer née Wagner; son, Scott Witmer of Allentown; daughters, Pam Bell of Indialantic, FL and Shelley Lavoie of Emmaus; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Norma Folkenroth of York, PA. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Stacia, two brothers and four sisters. Glenn was a long-time member of Faith EF Church, Trexlertown, having served variously as an Elder, Deacon, and Choir member. A COVID-compliant calling period is scheduled for Noon to 1:30 pm, Monday, December 28, 2020 at Yorkshire United Methodist Church, 125 Edgewood Road, York, PA 17402. A service will be held at Yorkshire Church at 1:30 pm with Pastor Brooke Solberg officiating. Live streaming of the service is available on-line at www.yorkshirechurch.org. Burial will be at Stony Brook Cemetery, York, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Church, 6528 Hamilton Boulevard, Allentown, PA 18106.
