Frances D. Wheeler Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Frances D. Wheeler, 75, of York, formerly of Baltimore, MD, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. Born in Baltimore on May 16, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Helen (Heffernan) Kursch. Frances retired from the Maryland Department of Planning where she worked for many years. She was a huge fan of the “King of Rock and Roll”, Elvis Presley, and was even abled to visit Graceland several times. Being a Maryland girl, she loved to pick blue crabs and enjoyed a great crabcake. She enjoyed the companionship of her dogs. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, and cherished time spent with her daughter Diane Stealey, and her husband Steve and her grandchildren Julianne and Jacob Stealey. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Plitt and was preceded in death by her sister Helen “Maureen” Dunevant. A visitation for family and friends will be at 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York, with Pastor Donald K. Alspaugh officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frances’ memory may be made to the SPCA of York County at www.ycspca.org.
