Edwin Olejkowski, age 82, husband of Joanne Olejkowski, father, grandfather, Air Force veteran, died November 1, 2021 at his residence in York, PA. He was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Stanley and Theresa (Pubenc) Olejkowski; graduated from North Catholic High School in Philadelphia; and held degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Finance. He was an industrial engineer for Honeywell; worked for RCA, manufacturing control systems for F15 fighter jets; and was employed by Burroughs, designing the Pershing Guided Missile System. Other roles included engineering manager and eastern regional sales manager. He held three patents and designed radiation detection monitors for nuclear power plants used around the world. After retirement, he held part-time jobs as a code enforcement officer and zoning inspector for Hallam and Springettsbury Townships and had an antiques business at Burning Bridge Antiques in Columbia, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting; played trombone in the Emigsville Band; and volunteered at Our Daily Bread, Habitat for Humanity, and Meals on Wheels. Ed is survived by his children, Lisa Pheysey, Susan Aitken, Kimberley Olejkowski, John Olejkowski (Beth), Phillip Olejkowski (Jeanne), and Rachael Ortwein (Andrew); and grandchildren, Colin and Ryan Aitken, Julia Pilgrim, and Katie Pheysey. In 2001, when he and Joanne married, he added three stepdaughters, Christy Carlson (Chris), Amy McHenry (Bob), and Anne Matthews (Ryan); and four step grandchildren, Katie and Erik Carlson, and Meghan and Michael McHenry. Ed is also survived by his sister, Leona Opalkowski and his good friend, Cas Kalinowski. He was predeceased by two wives, Gloria and Julie; and four siblings, Stanley Olejkowski, Helen Mellor, Lawrence Olejkowski, and Bernadine Peahota. A perpetual optimist, he will be fondly remembered by his mantra: “I never had a bad day in my life.” Following cremation, a Celebration of Ed's Life will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. in the Ballroom at Heritage Hills Resort, 2700 Mount Rose Avenue, York, PA.
