Dona Baker Pfunder

September 28, 1954 - March 10, 2022

Dona Baker Pfunder, 67 of Wenham, MA, died suddenly and unexpectedly at her residence on March 10, 2022. She was the companion of Charlie Swimm of Marblehead, MA for seventeen years. Born September 28, 1954 in La Marque, TX, she was the daughter of Rebecca (Baker) Baker of York, PA and the late Don Cruden Baker. Dona was a 1972 graduate of William Penn Senior High School, a graduate of Centenary College for Women in Hackettstown, NJ and a graduate of Katharine Gibbs Business School in Boston, MA. While attending Centenary College, Dona was employed as a DJ for WNTI with an on-air name of “Dona Doobie”. She was an accomplished pianist and loved to sing as evidenced by her singing in many choirs. Dona served most of her adult life in many service organizations and would be referenced by many as “The Happy Volunteer”. She served as past president of “The Friends of Beverly Hospital”, was a member of The Colonial Dames and a member of the D.A.R. Dona was a former member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the Girl Scouts. In addition to her companion and her mother, Dona is survived by two sons, Robert Baker “Robbie” Pfunder of Colorado and William Clark Pfunder of Ipswich, MA and two brothers, Don C. Baker, Jr. and his wife Lori of York, PA and Charles H. Baker and his wife Beth of Manchester, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 340 E. Market St. York, PA with the Rev. Mark Terwilliger, officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Martin Memorial Library, 159 East Market St. York, PA 17401 or to The Salvation Army, 50 E. King Street, York, PA 17401. Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St. York, PA 17403
