Bruce E. Sweitzer Jr.

Bruce E. Sweitzer, Jr., 90, of York New Salem, passed away, surrounded by his family, on March 30, 2022 at his home. He was the husband of N. Jean (Steele) Sweitzer to whom he was married for 67 years. Born in North Codorus Twp. on August 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Bruce E. and Elva O. (Fink) Sweitzer. Bruce was a United States Army Veteran serving in Korea and was a member of the Korean War Veterans. He worked for the York Water Company for 45 years in the maintenance department. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Stoverstown. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting. He also enjoyed wood working. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Lynda S. Weidner and her husband David of York; a granddaughter Renaye L Hoffman and her husband Richard of Greensburg; three great grandchildren Alexander, Abigail and Sarah Hoffman and nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4767 Lehman Road, Spring Grove, PA 17367. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the church. Burial will be in Stoverstown Cemetery with flag folding and taps conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the York County Veterans Honor Guard, PO Box 712, Mt. Wolf, PA 17347 or to the church.
